We all want to experience an element of freedom on our holidays, when it comes to camping this is no different. With what would be considered the original way of camping, freedom camping has made resurgence, aided by the increased popularity of freedom campervans equipped with beds and cooking facilities. Traditional free camping is simply finding a nice, secluded place to pitch a tent, and then living amongst the elements, living with only the bare essentials that you have taken in with you.

However, having to walk miles for clean water and washing clothes in a river may not appeal to everyone, thus camp site accommodation has become very popular through its convenience, and ease of access to what are now considered to be, essential facilities. But camp grounds can be crowded, expensive, and at certain times of the year, very noisy. Because of this the freedom caravans have broken through onto the scene, seemingly providing the best of both words. With essential facilities, yet the freedom to sleep wherever you please.

Though obviously more expensive than traditional freedom camping, freedom caravans are still a feasible options for those on a tight budget. With laws and regulation in most areas becoming more and more restrictive in regards to freedom camping, one may argue that the once autonomous activity is losing its independence. However, with the options of being able to sleep comfortably in a caravan, it increases the level of freedom, essentially reclaiming what freedom camping is all about. Also, the fact that there is a great number of caravan parks available, accommodation is no issue.

Many companies have jumped onto this new popularity of freedom caravanning, this means that there are many affordable deals out there. Though they are far from luxury travel, they have the basics. A bed which converts to a table and chairs, and cooking facilities at the rear. It is really expected that you will not be far from other facilities, and either way, you can always drive there!

Although purists may argue that driving around in a van is not camping by any means, the freedom campervan is growing ever popular among money conscious travellers. Not only does it offer some comforts, but it allows you to see and experience a vast amount of countryside – a 21st century nomad. A popular choice for couples or small groups, budget freedom caravans offer a high level of independence, unrestricted by camp site rules and regulations. Traditional free camping reimagined.
